Team Leader – Hinksey Pool - Oxford
We are looking for an experienced person to provide full time operational supervision of the centre, under the direction of the Operations Manager and to contribute to the development of centre programmes to maximise usage and income, and to achieve customer service delivery objectives, in accordance with policies and procedures. This is a temporary contract, from April-September 2012.

Job Summary
- Contribute to the delivery of the Centre’s vision and business plan.
- Ensure the centre operating objectives and standards of performance are followed.
- Ensure that appropriate standards of conduct are complied with at all times.
- Achieve the highest possible standard of customer service and commitment to continuous improvement in quality and business performance.
- Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the reception.
- Greet customers and visitors in a friendly and helpful manner, in person or by phone, monitoring and controlling entry to the centre.
- Ensure all customer sales and bookings are managed correctly, assisting customers in their choices.
- Ensure membership administration is managed correctly, delivering the right choice of membership for the individual customers.
- Adopt a positive approach to saving members looking to cancel and drive retention, adhering to Fusion sales driving and reporting procedures.
- Undertake all cash handling and reconciliation procedures to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in the development and management of a well-balanced activity and event programme.
- Monitor the water quality, air and water temperature, plant, equipment and building services, ensuring compliance with agreed standards.
- Prepare reports on the centre’s operations, events and incidents when necessary and requested by the General/Pool Operations manager.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of staff and users of the centre through the operation of all Health and Safety procedures and standards.
- Ensure that the centre is secure and maintained to the required standards of cleanliness and repair.
- Carry out and supervise cleaning tasks in accordance with centre cleaning schedules.
- Carry out and supervise contract cleaning checks.
- Carry out daily/weekly and monthly building checks and communicating with the Operations team and General Manager any relevant findings or necessary corrective action.
- Carry out minor repairs and remedial work to equipment as and when necessary, undertaking regular inspections and reporting any faults or defects to the General / Operations Manager.
- Assist in the effective operations of the activity programme by coaching / teaching, where appropriate.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with the general public, ensuring that an appropriate ambience is maintained in the facility making customers feel welcomed and valued.
- Co-ordinate the efficient and effective deployment of the team, to meet the financial and operational demands of the centre.
- Undertake relevant project work appropriate to the position as directed by the Manager.
Experience/Skills and attributes
- First Aid at Work Certificate
- Current NPLQ
- Previous duty management experience, sales knowledge and poolside operational experience
- Understanding of membership management and retention systems
- Experience of supervising a team including training, development, appraisals, conduct management and motivating staff.
- Understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities and managing diversity.
- Knowledge of premises and equipment management, including health and safety and maintenance.
- Understanding of relevant health and safety and employment legislation
- Experience of keyholding duties and responsibilities.
- Excellent oral, numerical, written skills and competent on word and excel
- Responsible for maintaining all relevant qualifications and attending training sessions as part of normal working arrangements.
